COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT- accepting applications for this full-time position. This position provides support to the Manager of Community Development in implementing conservation and redevelopment programs. Responsibilities include: performs administrative duties and inspects homes as part of the Spot Blight, Homesteading and rental assistance programs. Considerable knowledge of standard office practices, real estate acquisition, construction, photography, word processing, desktop publishing, WordPerfect, photography software and Excel. Candidate must possess Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with courses in business management, secretarial science, financial management, real estate or any related field, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Starting salary is $22,693. Outstanding benefits package including two employer-funded retirement accounts, health, dental, and life and disability programs. The Authority does not participate in the Social Security program.

 POSITION SUMMARY:  The Producer with emphasis on Producing and Product  Management will direct and supervise News Reporters, Photographers, and Editors, and be responsible for ensuring that high quality news programs are consistently aired and that standards of quality for all aspects of the show are maintained.  The Producer will personally produce assigned newscasts and have complete control over how news shows are produced, and ensure that all Reporters, Photographers, and Editors handle their responsibilities for format, organization with other departments, news writing, and distribution of final scripts.  The Producer will also perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of News.

 ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  Advanced education in the field of Broadcast Journalism which has given the applicant the ability to perform the required functions of the job, or equivalent broadcasting work experience which has prepared the applicant to perform the required functions of the job.  Demonstration of skills by performance in audition or aircheck, supported by references and pre-employment interviews.  Available 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and for extended periods of overtime, if needed.  Able to control high stress periods and heavy workload.  Valid Virginia Driver's license within 30 days of employment, acceptable driving record maintained.  Knowledge of journalistic standards as they relate to on-air presentation of news stories.  Accurate and comprehensive writing skills.  Ability to act and react appropriately on camera.  Ability to maintain professional personal appearance.  Ability to lift and transport standard camera equipment.  Available to travel overnight to off-site locations, including foreign destinations, for extended periods of time, if needed.  Access to an automobile if needed for transportation.
